Douglas to Ramsey

27.3km · 392m of climbing · filmed by Mikey Contributoray

The Isle of Man is better known for TT racing, but it has some great roads for cycling too. We set off along Douglas Bay beside the horse tram, and the Manx Electric Railway keeps us company as far as Glen Mona. Both are Victorian and still running.

It's hillier than you might expect for the so-called easy way to Ramsey. A few rises bring us to Laxey and the Snaefell Mine Waterwheel, then the biggest climb is a long, steady drag up Ramsey Road.

The last climb, at Corrany, is the steepest. From Rest and be Thankful it's downhill all the way into Ramsey, fast enough that we hit 65km/h.
