Vieta ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Vieta iPad app, the Vieta website (vieta.cc), and any other services we operate (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name, and a password (which we store as a hash). If you choose to provide additional profile details — bio, avatar, weight, functional threshold power (FTP), units preference, or locale — we collect those too.
Activity data. When you complete a ride we record the activity: distance, duration, power, heart rate, cadence, calories, and the underlying per-second time-series stream. This information is tied to your account and is the basis for the leaderboards, history, and analytics we surface back to you.
Device data. The Vieta app communicates with Bluetooth fitness sensors (trainers, heart-rate straps, power meters, cadence sensors). Sensor readings are processed on-device and uploaded as part of your activity record. We do not store low-level Bluetooth handshake data.
Diagnostic data. If you opt in to crash reporting we collect anonymised crash logs and basic device information (device model, OS version) via Sentry. This helps us fix bugs. You can disable this in the app's Diagnostics settings.
Playback diagnostics. To investigate playback problems, the apps record video quality, buffering events, playback errors, available download-speed and buffer measurements, and the ride, platform and app version. Samples are stored locally during your ride. A session report is uploaded to Supabase after the ride ends, or on a later signed-in launch if the ride was interrupted or an upload failed. Reports are linked to your account and visible to Vieta administrators, not other riders. These reports do not contain video URLs, authentication tokens or raw network response bodies.
Cookies and local storage. The website uses a small number of essential cookies and browser storage entries to keep you signed in. If you allow referral tracking, Tolt also uses cookies to remember the affiliate who referred you. We store referral identifiers, timestamps, landing page paths and campaign tags alongside your account, keeping trial and payment sources separately. Paddle payment information is shared with Tolt to calculate affiliate commissions. Declining referral tracking does not prevent you from using Vieta.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Service: to authenticate you, to record and analyse your rides, to render the social features (followers, kudos, comments) when you choose to use them, to deliver push notifications you've opted into, and to communicate with you about your account.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Strava
Connecting Strava is optional. When you connect, Strava asks you to allow Vieta to upload activities to your account and to read your profile. We use that access for two things only: uploading a ride you have finished, as a recording of that ride with a name and a short description; and, when you tap "Use my Strava FTP", reading the FTP you have entered on Strava and saving it to your Vieta profile. We do not read your Strava activities, and we never show information from your Strava account to other riders, use it for advertising, or use it to develop or run artificial-intelligence systems.
To keep the connection working we store the access credentials Strava issues, and your Strava athlete number, on our servers. They are never sent to other riders and are readable only by our upload service.
You can disconnect at any time from the Strava page in the app's settings. Disconnecting withdraws Vieta's access at Strava and deletes those credentials from our servers immediately. If you instead remove Vieta from the apps list in your Strava settings, Strava notifies us and we delete them within 48 hours. Deleting your Vieta account does both. Rides already uploaded to Strava stay on Strava, under Strava's own privacy policy.
Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Activity data is retained indefinitely so your history remains complete. When you delete your account we soft-delete your profile and remove identifying information from your activities within 30 days; aggregate, anonymised statistics may be retained.
Playback diagnostic retention
Detailed playback samples and events are retained for 30 days, and session summaries for 90 days. Devices keep a bounded queue of up to ten session reports while waiting to upload them.
Your choices
Changing cookie preferences stops future browser referral tracking. Existing account attribution and payment records remain in your account history.
You can review and update your profile information at any time in the app or the website's Profile page. You can delete your account from the same page; this is irreversible.
You can disable push notifications in your device settings, opt out of crash reporting in the app's Diagnostics settings, and disconnect Strava from the Integrations settings.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. Contact us at the email below to exercise these rights.
Children
Vieta is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. If we make a material change we will notify you in the app or by email.
