Box Hill Twice
17.4km · 360m of climbing · filmed by Mikey Contributoray
Why ride up Box Hill once when we can do it twice? Zig Zag Road is a hugely popular climb, and while it's not particularly hard, it has a mini-mountain feel the numbers don't suggest.
We warm up along Old London Road through Mickleham, then climb Zig Zag Road, steady and never much steeper than 7%. Over the top we head out to Box Hill village and back, then drop down and climb it all over again.
The second climb is a near copy of the first, a fair test of what's left in the legs. At the top we pass the Salomons viewpoint one last time and roll back down to the start.
